Discover Meols: Wirral’s Oldest Port with Dr Robert Philpott
Join us for an enlightening evening as Dr Robert Philpott, a highly respected archaeologist and researcher, delves into the fascinating discoveries from Meols, Wirral’s oldest port. With its rich history and wealth of artefacts, Meols offers a unique glimpse into centuries of trade, settlement, and maritime activity.
Dr Philpott has spent over 30 years exploring the archaeology of the North West, specialising in Romano-British and medieval settlements. His work has brought to light the significance of sites like Meols, which served as a key trading hub linking the Wirral to the wider world.
This lecture promises to uncover the stories hidden beneath the sands of Meols, from its role in ancient trade networks to the artefacts that reveal the daily lives of those who lived and worked there. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about one of Wirral’s most historic locations from an expert in the field.
We welcome both members and non-members to our events, but whilst our members enjoy free entry, there is a £5 charge for non-members who wish to attend.
