Most of the issues concerning the Society currently relate to the increasing pressure on Wirral Borough’s Green Belt

Whilst covering something that may be considered a ‘dry’ subject, this plan is very important as, once agreed, it will form the basis upon which major planning decisions will be made in the coming years.   

Government Intervention: We are trying to find out more of what happened at a  meeting held between Government officials and senior figures from Wirral Council concerning the Council’s inability to produce its Local Plan before 2020.

REdrow Homes proposal documentThe Wirral Society also take a keen interest in the area of Wirral that comes under the ‘Cheshire’ County boundary, here are some of the issues we have been involved with.

An appeal has been launched against the refusal of “affordable” housing in the Green Belt at Willaston. We objected to the original application and hope that the appeal will be refused.

The application to build a Equine Therapy unit near Childer Thornton funded by the “Enabling development” of some 15 houses in the Green Belt has been withdrawn.

The Redrow development for 2000 new houses off Ledsham Road continues.

All that is left to do we fear is to see if and how the houses sell!
